          Treatment of fracture

Treatment of fracture may include realignment of bone and then providing it support so that it heals on its own and resumes normal functioning. The support is provided through a splint or a cast, which immobilizes the injured area to keep the bone in alignment while the bone heals.

Medicine such as painkillers and anti-inflammatory medicines are prescribed to relieve pain.

In some cases, traction is used to align the dislocated bones. It is often given using pulleys, strings, weights, and a metal frame are attached over or on the bed for traction. The purpose of traction is to stretch the muscles and tendons around the broken bone. This helps the bone ends to align and heal.
